Slater out of All Stars game
QUEENSLAND and Australian fullback Billy Slater has pulled out of Saturday's All Stars game at Skilled Park because of an ankle injury.
The NRL All Stars No.1 injured his ankle at the team's first training session on Monday and despite promising signs during treatment, he has been ruled out of the inaugural clash against the Indigenous All Stars.
Coach Wayne Bennett has called Slater's Melbourne Storm teammate Brett Finch into the side, who will come off the bench.
The Innisfail product joins Justin Hodges, Greg Inglis, Alan Tongue, PJ Marsh, Daine Laurie, Dave Taylor and Gareth Ellis as players from both sides to have pulled out of Saturday's match.
