LITTLE BLACK DRESS: There is a fine line between stupidity and bravery, especially when it involves a man who buys his new girlfriend an apron for her birthday.
Especially given the very specific Christmas present brief just two months earlier: anything is fine, except kitchen stuff.
His burst of courage came from the fact that the apron was (a) bright orange; (b) vintage; (c) expensive; and (d) did not involve some tacky Aussie BBQ slogan or contain an inbuilt set of latex boobs. Mr King further assured me that his motivation for buying the apron was that he thought I could convert it into a unique wardrobe piece, and had nothing to do with a fantasy involving a pair of kitten heels and a tray of freshly baked cupcakes. So, here it is. Twelve months on and it’s out of the wardrobe for the second time. It has been a difficult assignment as you absolutely cannot wear the apron around your waist – there is no disguising its shape and original purpose. And you should only make the apron mistake once (LBD Day 4).
With a little bit of encouragement, the linen fabric converted well enough into a cowl neck and agreed to be stay in place with a length of black frill that I had cut from one of the layers of a petticoat (LBD Day 21).
If you can’t make out the details of the earrings, just take it from me that they are fabulous. Emma from Shiva Moon regularly sacrifices her time to jet off to Thailand and source all sorts of earring delights for we feeble addicts. These ones were kindly put aside as she knew they were in the Leah-size-range … large!

Femme Tux
LITTLE BLACK DRESS: My aim today was to try and create an LBD version of the tuxedo - a white button-up shirt and some creative tucks in the fabric to simulate coat tails.
