Leaving on a metallic plain

LITTLE BLACK DRESS: No surprises that there have been a few moments during the last 30 days when I seriously considered taking to the LBD with a pair of very sharp scissors.

However this isn’t what has happened today.

One last surge of creativity (thanks to a very encouraging husband) meant I came up with this waistcoat conversion.  It’s difficult to explain in words how it’s done, but basically the bottom two corners of the LBD are crossed over and then buttoned at the top of the dress on the opposite side.  Got it?

And turning the LBD into a waistcoat meant that I could wear my favourite dress: one of Ailsa’s designs aptly named Play with Me. The fabric is metallic lycra so it’s both ultra comfortable and glamorous to wear.  No hiding the 22 week baby bump though.

The silk scarf around my waist is threaded through the folds of the LBD and tied into a rosette that appears to be drooping in the humidity of wet season Cairns.

I have to admit that there were a couple of other knockout pieces that I would have loved to have worn today, however the sad reality is that they have been relegated to the back of the wardrobe and won’t see the light of day again until after Baby King is born in late June.

So that brings us to the end of the 30-day LBD challenge.

And to the next big question … what on earth am I going to wear tomorrow?

Bets are on it won’t be black.

Thank you all for sharing in the fun and occasional moments of stress over the last 30 days and taking the time to leave encouraging words and honest feedback.

If nothing, I hope that the trials and tribulations of my 30 day challenge have convinced you that there is always something hiding in your wardrobe that you can wear … differently.
