Snake surprise signal stops work

WORKERS had to put the brakes on an insulation job yesterday after finding a large python in the roof of a Cairns house.

The 2.5m water python gave installers a huge fright while they were working in the roof of the Parramatta Park house about 9.30am.

The job had to be stopped as snake handlers were called in to remove the python.

Rohan Pithie, owner of Hiss Off Reptile Removal, removed the snake which lunged at the handler twice while posing for photos for The Weekend Post.

"The easy part was removing it, the hardest thing is crawling around a rooftop looking for the thing," Mr Pithie said.

"It wasn’t that happy to see me, but it didn’t take long to remove it."

Mr Pithie said the call-out was his sixth request to remove a snake this week and he believes the wet weather is driving the creatures indoors.
