WITH the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in full swing, the Cairns region is gearing up for a influx of visitors for a Mardi Gras recovery week.
Many of the region’s gay resorts are offering special Mardi Gras recovery packages.
At Turtle Cove Resort, visitors can indulge in a five night package including four dinners, daily breakfasts, a $30 spa credit, Great Barrier Reef trip and entertainment, from $1285.
The popular beachfront gay and lesbian resort is midway between Cairns and Port Douglas.
Skinny Dips Resort and Spa in Cairns is offering a four-night deal including breakfasts, airport transfers, dinners, activities, relaxation, and a tad more revelry, from $795.
Skinny Dips is an exclusively gay resort in the centre of Cairns city with a swimwear optional policy around their pool.
In Port Douglas, the Pink Flamingo Resort has a “Tickled Pink” package including four night’s accommodation, a Great Barrier Reef cruise, Cape Tribulation Rainforest Safari and entertainment, for $1366 for two people.
The Pink Flamingo was rated the best spot for an indecent proposal by concierge.com in its World’s Sexiest Resorts list.
