Wind warning issued for Gulf

A COASTAL waters wind warning has been issued this afternoon for the southern Gulf of Carpentaria.

A monsoonal rain depression over western Queensland is generating strong northwest winds over the southern Gulf.

The weather bureau is predicting strong winds over southeastern Gulf of Carpentaria waters, with northwest winds at 25/30 knots easing this evening or overnight to 20/25 knots and seas decreasing to 2m.
