Escapee jailed after Yorkeys Knob search
UPDATE: A man who escaped police custody, sparking a three-hour search yesterday afternoon, has been sent to jail.
Lionel Thomas Kepple, 32, escaped from a police vehicle despite being handcuffed, on Varley St, Yorkeys Knob, about 3.30pm yesterday.
The police dog squad was called to assist in the search.
He was found and rearrested, again on Varley St, about 6.10pm.
In Cairns Magistrates' Court today, he pleaded guilty to escaping lawful custody and obstructing police.
He was sentenced to jail until November.
