Youngster riding high with bike shop gift
A MANUNDA boy whose bicycle was stolen outside a church the night before his 11th birthday has had his faith restored -a perfect stranger has given him a new $400 bike.
Ceajhay Ritchie's hard-luck story in The Weekend Post pulled at the heartstrings of Edge Hill's Marlin Coast Cycle Sport owner Stephen Robertshaw.
Ceajhay was attending a Christian youth group session at a Pease St church when his bike was stolen last month.
Yesterday, the Cairns West State School student was invited to the store and told to chose himself a new ride.
"I always say, 'Don't let the losers have the last laugh'," said Mr Robertshaw, adding that he knew what it felt like to have a bike stolen.
Ceajhay's mum, Yvonne Ritchie, said they would never forget Mr Robertshaw's generosity.
"I really don't know how to thank him - he's such a darling," she said.
