Man charged with murder

UPDATE: Police have charged a Mareeba man with murder after the death of an elderly man on a rural property at Mt Carbine, northwest of Cairns.

The body of the victim, 88, was found yesterday on the remote bush property, Curraghmore Station, by Mareeba police acting on a tip-off.

Police also charged the 58-year-old suspect with possession of a weapon.

He is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates' Court today.
