THE best of Far Northern produce will be sampled and celebrated when the region's Feast of the Senses starts tonight.
Celebrity chefs, food trail bus tours, a market day extravaganza and a gala dinner dance, featuring everything from crocodile wonton to beef fillet with jackfruit glaze, are on the week-long entertainment menu at Innisfail.
Festival manager Kirsty Densmore said the eight-year-old event, which is designed to showcase the Far North’s produce to the nation, boasted its biggest line-up yet.
Festival-goers can sample fruits and other home-grown produce and watch cooking demonstrations during a market day extravaganza in the main street of Innisfail on March 28.
The official opening, an Imperial Tavern Wine, Fruit and Cheese Showcase to be held near the Johnstone River tonight, is sold out.
But Ms Densmore said tickets were still available for the weekend’s food trail bus tours and a gala dinner dance next Friday featuring Cairns’ award-winning Ochre Restaurant chef Craig Squire.
