Peter Garrett to share Coral Sea plans
THE next step in the controversial Coral Sea Conservation Zone plan will be announced today when Environment Protection Minister Peter Garrett visits Cairns.
The announcement of the Coral Sea Conservation Zone last year angered many in the fishing community who said the decision had been made without consultation.

The zone covers nearly one million square kilometres of the Coral Sea begins at the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Mr Garrett’s office said he would meet Leichhardt MP Jim Turnour in Cairns today, to discuss the next steps in the unprecedented effort to assess the unique values of the East Marine Region off Australia's east coast, including the Coral Sea.
He will address the media this afternoon.
