Isabel Lucas' The Pacific hits TV screens

HERE is the first glimpse of the big-budget mini-series that transformed Port Douglas and Mossman landscapes into a war zone.

The Pacific, directed by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, and starring Cairns sweetheart, Isabel Lucas, and Gary Sweet, premiered in the US earlier this month to rave reviews.

It will hit Australian screens on Channel 7 in the coming month.

The 10 part series, aired on HBO, had a budget of more than $US150 million and was filmed in Port Douglas, Mossman, Rocky Point and Mowbray Valley as well as Melbourne and rural Victoria.

The series is based on the memoirs of two marines and is also set to air in Canada, Poland, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand and Britain in the next month.
