Protesters meet housing minister

TRINITY Park and Palm Cove residents have greeted Housing Minister Karen Struthers with placards as she arrived for talks in Cairns.

Today's protest comes the minister travelled to Cairns to meet with Trinity Park, Palm Cove and Earlville residents, who have rallied against proposed public housing planned in their neighbourhoods.

"The director general has already met with representatives from Bluewater during the recent Community Cabinet but I'm happy to meet with people again to discuss their questions," Ms Struthers said ahead of her visit.

The Department of Communities is planning a block of 18 units at Palm Cove, a 19-unit development for Trinity Park's Bluewater Harbour and a three-storey, 10-unit block in O'Hara St, Earlville.
