Making history: Williams Lodge at Yungaburra offers a vintage escape.

Take a step back in time ... win an old-fashioned getaway!

Reminiscent of simpler times, when life moved a little more slowly, Williams Lodge on the Atherton Tableland is a magnificent Heritage listed Queenslander in the heart of Yungaburra.

This historic property, acquired by the Williams family in 1915, was once a vibrant, joy filled and magnificent home where family, friends and many a weary traveller were welcome, be it to enjoy rest and relaxation in the comfortable surroundings or an evening of conviviality by the grand piano.

The home, restored to its former glory in 2002, is a member of the prestigious Small Elegant Hotels Of The World collection and features four luxurious suites all tastefully decorated to recapture the beauty of a bygone era.

>> For a chance to win a two-night stay in one of two penthouse suites at the lodge, complete with a tropical breakfast, enter our Vintage Escape competition.

Penthouse suites include cooking facilities, pay TV and internet as well as use of the spacious historic guest lounge.

This picturesque communal area is exclusive to guests and features, among other things, a timber fireplace, pianola, library, pool table and board games to wile away the hours, as well as all the usual modern creature comforts.

For those who enjoy time outdoors, there are mountain bikes to explore the extensive grounds, a lawn bowls club next door and a magnificent outdoor lounge.

This area, known as the "dance floor", was built in World War II by Australian and American troops in return for the family’s generous hospitality.

It captures cool breezes, provides fantastic views and houses a swimming pool, barbecue facilities, big screen pay TV and a timber veranda extending around the lodge.
