NATHAN Jawai's stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves could be over, with the NBA restricted free agent set to line up with the Charlotte Bobcats in the summer league.

Bamaga product Jawai rushed back to the US after completing commitments with the Boomers in Australia’s 3-0 sweep of world No. 1 Argentina in their recent series.

While he is still recovering from an ankle injury, the former Taipan will be keen to make an impact with his NBA future on the line.

The 23-year-old is likely to get another chance to shine in illustrious company in the off-season given he is almost certain to be named in Australia’s team for the world championships in Turkey in August.

In other basketball news, Taipans captain Phill Jones is set to head back across the Tasman to Cairns after finishing New Zealand NBL commitments with the Nelson Giants.

Jones’ Giants fell one win short of making the championship series after losing their semi-final 74-62 to the Waikato Pistons.
