Skytrans backs Taipans
SKYTRANS has made a major vote of confidence in the region by signing on as major sponsor of the Cairns Taipans at the same time as expanding its services and fleet.
The aviation company has signed a one-year deal as the Taipans’ major sponsor, extending its support of the National Basketball League club to a fourth season.

While neither party would reveal the extent of the "substantial commitment", it is believed to be a six-figure sum. It comes as Skytrans last week increased its Mt Isa to Cairns run to a daily return service throughout the working week.
The company has also added another Dash 8 aircraft to its fleet, meaning it is now the largest operator of Dash 8 100s in Australia.
Skytrans managing director Simon Wild said the organisation had enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Taipans over the past three years and was excited to see it continue.
"The Taipans are terrific for Cairns and Far North Queensland," Mr Wild said.
"But more than that they provide the region with family-friendly entertainment and something to really get behind and make ours."
Taipans general manager Mark Beecroft said Skytrans’ support had been outstanding.
