THEY'VE cheered him at Wimbledon, the US and Australian Opens - but tour group The Fanatics is unlikely to follow Lleyton Hewitt to Cairns.

Tennis Australia yesterday announced its four-man team, which includes Hewitt, Peter Luczak, Carsten Ball and Paul Hanley, to take on Belgium in the Davis Cup tie in Cairns from September 17 to 19.

Former world No.1 Hewitt is the obvious drawcard. However, sporting tour group The Fanatics is yet to follow in the tennis superstar's footsteps, with a spokesperson telling The Cairns Post yesterday there were no packages organised as yet, although they may "look into it".

Cairns sports tragic Matt Bolton said Cairns did not need The Fanatics to get into the spirit ' it is all about patriotism, planning, creativity and costumes.

"We need to make sure the stadium is full and represents Cairns and Far North Queensland on the sporting map," he said.

"If that means donning the face paint and wearing the green and gold, fantastic.

"I would definitely get a group of mates around, do as much research as you can, and watch some Davis Cup games. It’s a little bit like cooking; a little bit of this, a little bit of that and you make your own special brew."

Coming up with your own unique chants and costuming is vital, but don't forget to brush up on your tennis etiquette before going overboard.

"The last thing we want to do is represent the region poorly. I think it needs to be done in good taste, good humour and without overstepping the marks," Mr Bolton said.

Tennis Queensland community tennis officer Janine Jenner-Bruno said Hewitt’s inclusion would boost the Cup tie's exposure.

Tickets are on sale at Ticketek on 132 849, at www.ticketek.com.au or at the Customer Care Desk, Stockland.

Come on: Lleyton Hewitt will play in Cairns for the Davis Cup.
