The Cairns Post hosted a live chat on cairns.com.au as Category 5 cyclone Yasi crossed the coast near Cardwell.

The live chat, which ran for 36 consecutive hours from 1pm, Wednesday February 2 to 12am, Friday February 3, was moderated by a small team from The Cairns Post and News Limited across the country. It attracted hundreds of thousands of concerned readers from around the globe looking for information on loved ones in the Far North.
