IF FNQ Bulls midfielder Steven Dunn ever feels in trouble on the field, he knows all he has to do to find help is look for older brother and
teammate Stuart in the
backline.

On the flip side, Steven knows if he stuffs up, he is going to cop it from his vocal guardian angel.

"He can be a bit hard on me," Steven said.

"I feel more confident when he’s out on the field with me, but he lets me know if I’ve made a mistake."

But the way Stuart sees it, occasionally being a narky so-and-so is part of an older brother’s job description.

"I only do it because I know he’s such a good player," Stuart said of Steven.

"I can read his game pretty good because he normally plays right in front me.

"And if I make a mistake, he always gets up me."

The Bulls will hope neither sibling has reason to shout
at the other tonight when they make their Queensland State League soccer debuts against the Brisbane Strikers at Mareeba’s Borzi Park.

Steven and Stuart moved with their parents from Scotland to Cairns two years ago and played with FNQ Football premier league outfit Marlin Coast before joining the Bulls this season.

Stuart said the decision to leave Marlin Coast was not easy.

"It was pretty difficult because I made a lot of good mates at Marlin Coast and the club even helped me get a job," he said.

"But I wanted to make the step up to the next level and see how I go."

Steven was looking for a similar challenge.

An Australian representative at schoolboy level, the youngest Dunn is excited by the prospect of playing in
the QSL.

"I’m expecting it to be a lot quicker and more demanding on my fitness," the 18-year-old said. "But I think we’ll be able to handle the step up.

‘‘I’m really looking forward to playing against the state’s best players every week."

Tonight’s match will be the Bulls’ first of the season after their first two encounters against the Gold Coast and Whitsunday Miners were washed out.

The Bulls will be without striker Steven Cater after he was ruled out with a nagging leg injury.
