Triathlete says Cairns 'perfect' place for challenge
Ready, set, swim: Competitors plough into the water for the Quicksilver Reef 1500m swim.
KIRSTEN Molloy had never been to Cairns before this week, but she's doing everything in her power to make sure her first visit is a memorable one.
The 29-year-old Newcastle triathlete won the open women’s section of the Quicksilver Reef Swim at Green Island yesterday, clocking 50min 54sec for the 3km course.
Molloy will race in Sunday’s Challenge Cairns and is in good form after finishing third at Ironman Australia five weeks ago.
With sunny skies and warm conditions to look forward to this weekend, Molloy said Cairns was the perfect venue for an ironman event.
“I think it’s awesome Challenge has brought this race here,” she said. “It’s all perfect.”
