THE countdown is officially on to Cairns' hottest music festival timeOUT Day In The Park, touching down at Fogarty Park on the Esplanade on Saturday, August 13.

Now its sixth year, timeOUT Day In The Park is an integral part of the Cairns live music landscape, bringing with it Australia’s hottest acts in rock, hip-hop, dance, pop and indie alongside a top line-up of local talent selected through the annual Battle of the Bands and DJs competitions.

This year’s headline acts include classic Aussie rockers The Living End, hip-hop hero Drapht, indie punks British India and Triple J’s queen of party Nina Las Vegas.

Tickets to timeOUT Day In The Park hit the streets on Monday and as usual, The Cairns Post is giving you the chance to score one for a heavily discounted price through our token system.

To get yourself in the door, all you need to do is collect 12 tokens from inside The Cairns Post and The Weekend Post between Monday, July 4 and Saturday, July 16, attach them to the entry forms inside the paper every day and return them to us with $25 and you’re in the door.

The token system provides a massive $55 off the regular general admission price of $80, making timeOUT Day In The Park one of, if not the most, cost-effective festival experiences in the country.

But that’s not all!

In our quest to give something back to the people of Far North Queensland, The Cairns Post will also donate $1 from every ticket sold to held rebuild our region after the devastation of cyclone Yasi.

This adds to the $260,000 already donated by The Cairns Post and sister-paper The Townsville Bulletin through our Bouncing Back charity and large contributions from our parent publisher News Limited.

"We realise that it’s been a tough time for Far North Queenslanders in 2011, so this is our way of giving something back," The Cairns Post marketing manager Anne-Marie Campagnolo said.

"This means that not only will you have a wicked time, but you’ll rock out for a good cause too."
