Cairns actor Brenton Thwaites trades Far North for a role in Home and Away
THE path from Cairns to Summer Bay is starting to look rather well worn as another Far Northern acting export joins the cast of Home and Away.
Cairns State High School graduate Brenton Thwaites is following the famous footsteps of St Monica’s alumni Isabel Lucas, landing a plum role on the long-running Australian soap.
The 22-year-old actor will join the cast next month, playing a new addition to the Bay’s tattooed troublemakers, the River Boys.
"He comes in and steals the heart of a beautiful young lady," Thwaites told The Cairns Post yesterday.
And with a starring role in the new Fox8 drama series, Slide, also hitting the small screen next month, Thwaites is gradually getting used to his new life on and off the set.
"The acting lifestyle is a big shock, in a way," he said.
"All of a sudden I’m hanging out with people that I grew up watching on TV, and coming from Cairns it’s nothing like what I was used to.
"Even going to Bondi with Lincoln Lewis for a milkshake, you get stopped by groups of girls and they all want photos – it’s pretty surreal."
Slide premieres on August 16, 7.30pm on Fox8.
