After winning Battle Of The DJs, hot local DJ Crasey drops the beats at timeOUT Day In the Park
You must be stoked with the big win at the comp on friday night! How did your set go and how are you feeling leading up to timeOUT Day In The Park this weekend?
The set at the comp was really fun. I had a few of my favourite tracks in there that I love to play which always gets me excited. I’m really looking forward to getting up there this weekend and playing on a big system and in front of such a big crowd!
Tell us a bit about how you first got into DJing…
I was living away from Cairns and my friends at the time – I didn’t have much to do apart from work. I loved listening to live sets from DJs like Erick Morillo, Axwell and other house music DJs, so I bought some decks and started mixing at home. It fast turned into my favourite pastime and I would use any party or get-together as an excuse to have a play!
What can the people expect when you take to the main stage on Saturday?
I hope I can bring a bit of diversity to the day by mixing it up with all kinds of dance music. I’m aiming to get the crowd pumped up and dancing up a storm from start to finish!
Describe your style of tunes and DJing to everyone who hasn’t heard you play…
I grew up listening to punk and rock music and the tunes I play these days often have that chunky, fast-paced sound in there somewhere. I like to mix it up and keep the songs flowing quickly, so get ready to have some fun.
What’s the essential thing EVERYONE should bring to a festival?
Shoes! Thongs get lost and feet get sore, trust me!
Any last words?
Get loose, party safe and see ya on the dancefloor!
