CAIRNS' timeOUT Day In The Park lived up to its reputation on Saturday, with the Esplanade coming alive with some of Australia's top music acts.
Clear skies and cool breezes saw 5500 excited punters from all ages and walks of life pack into Fogarty Park, to catch seven hours of Australia’s finest live music including headliners The Living End, Drapht, British India and Nina Las Vegas.
Battle Of The Bands winners Jobstopper kicked things off in style with their catchy, sing-a-long fusion of ska, punk and rock, while Triple J House Party host Nina Las Vegas proved she’s no slouch in the festival department either with a genre-bending DJ set.

Kuranda roots and reggae rockers Zennith proved why they are a force to be reckoned with on the national stage with a special extended festival line-up, while Melbourne indie rockers British India threw down arguably the most energetic set of the day as the sun went down.
Armed with two of the biggest selling Australian albums of the year, headline acts Drapht and The Living End capped the day off, lifting the crowd to fever pitch and ensuring timeOUT Day In The Park was another success in 2011.The
Cairns Post editor Andrew Holman also presented a cheque for more than $4000 to North Queensland schools affected by cyclone Yasi, made possible by a cut taken from each ticket sold.
The Cairns Post’s advertising and partnerships director Kate Volcov said the event had a great reception from punters and the bands alike.
"The visiting headline artists all said they loved the crowd, the venue and Cairns," she said.
