Sure, their beef is among the best in town and they’ve developed a reputation for their goats cheese souffle.
But, according to manager Terry Collins, it’s the experience of dining at Zinc that customers remember the most.
The Port Douglas favourite was named the Far North’s best restaurant on Monday night when the annual Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence were announced in Cairns.
"It’s not just about people going out to find some food," Mr Collins said.
"With Zinc, the secret is that there’s a whole experience that people take away with them because we go to any lengths to make sure that our customers are happy when they dine here.
"It’s not a T-shirt or a physical souvenir – it’s the memory you take with you."
Salsa Bar and Grill, also at Port Douglas, was honoured as the Far North’s best caterer.
And Linga Longa at Edge Hill was named the region’s best new restaurant.
The awards judges visited the venues anonymously.
