School holiday film festival under way at Event Cinemas, Rodeo Drive-In and Moonlight Cinemas
The school holiday movie season has landed with a splash, with a bumper crop of family-friendly flicks to keep the kids happy over the break.
With everything from a 3D revamp of one of Disney's most popular classics, The Lion King, to Hollywood's new take on The Smurfs, Kevin James' zany comedy Zookeeper and Cairns' first ever 4D film Spy Kids: All The Time In The World, this school holiday season promises to be one of the best in memory.
Birch Carroll and Coyle and Event Cinemas Cairns are celebrating this film season with the launch of their new Kid's Club.
Open to children between the ages of two and 12, every sixth film is free and they get a gift for each cinema visit.
At Mareeba, the Rodeo Drive-In has put together three huge double headers for the school holiday weekends, with Captain America and Thor tonight, Cowboys and Aliens and Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon next weekend, and Conan and Horrible Bosses on September 30 and October 1.
At Port Douglas, Moonlight Cinema also has three more weeks of open air programming, with movies showing from Thursday to Sunday at the Rydges Sabaya Resort.
Special accommodation and film packages for those who want to stay the night are on offer.
