LONG-running Australian soap Neighbours will swap Ramsay St for Macrossan St next month when scenes for the show are filmed at Port Douglas.

Former Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis will play a marine biologist who encounters Erinsborough locals including Kate Ramsay, played by Ashleigh Brewer, during his four-week stint with the show.

Tropical Tourism North Queensland chief executive Rob Gaison told The Cairns Post the exposure generated from the popular show would be priceless.

OPERATION: GET OBAMA (TO PORT DOUGLAS)

"Neighbours would appear to have a very significant loyal audience, so hopefully, it might motivate them to visit," he said.

The news comes after reality TV show XVenture Corporate Challenge filmed in Cairns last week, and shooting of the ABC mini-series The Straits wrapped up earlier this month.
