Cairns-based acting agency Studio Australia Management secured six speaking roles in the Far Northern episode of the hit series to be screened early next year, both in Australia and overseas.

"It is a big deal when local actors are used by production companies," agency director David Armstrong said.

"They are choosing the region for its location and backdrop and finding that there are a lot of talented people here both in front of the camera and behind it."

After securing a part in the ABC series The Straits, Matt Trevett-Lyall was thrilled to be cast in the Neighbours episode.

"I was absolutely rapt. If we can get these sorts of gigs you don’t know what’s down the track," Mr Trevett-Lyall said.

"I did a scene with Lincoln Lewis. Lincoln was really nice and we had a bit of lunch and practised our lines. The crew and cast were really friendly."

John Krasicki moved up from being an extra in the movie The Pacific and TV series Sea Patrol to a five-line part in Neighbours.

"This is the first time I have been cast as an actor," Mr Krasicki said.

"I played the part of a security guard in a scene where Stefan (Dennis) tries to steal a tinny."

Big break: Michelle Eugster is one of the six Cairns actors to get a part in Neighbours.
