Cairns Saints juniors shape up for special training
SAINTS' inaugural under-16 Australian football side will be aided by fitness experts as they learn how to hone their bodies off the field to get the best results on it.
The juniors will use Sportsworld as their training base in the lead-up and during the season, where trainers will expose them to alternative training, recovery and game preparation methods.
Saints junior development officer Ben Hallas said it would open the players’ eyes to a different way of training.
"There is some real ability in the juniors up here, and we want to expose them to other methods which they can utilise throughout their career" he said.
"We want to educate them and develop them as footballers."
Sportsworld trainer Gary Bradley said it was not all about kids lifting big weights and hitting the treadmill.
"Want to focus on educating, correct weight lifting techniques and specific training programs,’’ he said.
Cairns Saints juniors sign-on is on Sunday, February 12 (9-11am) at Griffiths Park.
