The abbreviation "CWA" in the title of this book might deter some from picking it up for a good solid read.

Ironically it is about the strength of Australian women and the things they endure, not only in country towns, and about the support they provide to their local communities.

This was a fascinating read – I learnt who it was who led the protests when the first big shopping centres in Australia were built without public toilets.

These women lobby the government on issues of national significance to women everywhere.

Plus there're great recipes!

Verdict: For an insight into the strength of Aussie woman everywhere, pick it up. Very educational.

Great Australian CWA Stories by Bill “Swampy” Marsh is published by ABC Books, price $32.99.
