Former Mareeba basketballer selected for London Olympics squad

MAREEBA'S Aron Baynes will represent Australia at the London Olympics after being selected in the Boomers' final squad earlier today.

The centre, who plays for Greek club Ikaros Kalitheas, will take his place in the team alongside NBA point guard Patty Mills and NBL products Mark Worthington, Adam Gibson and the Townsville Crocs’ Peter Crawford.

The Mareeba and Cairns State High School graduate will share the big man duties with Aleks Maric and David Anderson.
