The Cloudland ballroom will come to life tonight at Cairns Civic Theatre when the Queensland Ballet perform their show.

Manhattan-based musical director Sean O’Boyle and singer Suzanne Kompass will join a troupe of dancers and a live band to bring a suite of music from the biggest clarinet numbers (Sing Sing, Begin the Beguine, Moonlight Serenade) to rock ‘n’ roll and disco.

“Christine meets the love of her life but he goes to war and she later finds out her love has perished,” opera singer Suzanne Kompass said.

“It is a splendid moment.”

The show sold out at the 2004 Brisbane Festival, and has since toured Europe.

>> Cloudland opens tonight at the Civic Theatre at 7.30pm, with two shows on Saturday at 1.30pm and 7.30pm. Go to ticketlink.com.au or call 1300 855 835.
