Award-winning Paronella Park's owners keen to build on success
ATTENTION to detail is key when it comes to running a successful business, say the owners of Paronella Park, which won two medals at the Telstra Queensland Business Awards in Brisbane on Tuesday night.
Paronella Park, the popular Far Northern tourist destination at Mena Creek, near South Johnstone, was awarded the Commonwealth Bank Medium Business Award, for businesses with 20 to 200 employees, and the Queensland Government Regional Award.
Mark Evans, who bought Paronella Park in 1993 with his wife Judy, said they were thrilled with the
multiple awards.
"We’re shocked and very excited, the Telstra Business Awards are the pinnacle of awards programs for businesses," he said.
Mr and Mrs Evans were joined at the presentation evening by their son Luke and his wife Bridget, who were married at Paronella Park, and they will head to Sydney for the national awards on August 29.
Mr Evans is confident of success on the national stage.
"The thing that is important about business is success but also sustainability and vision about where it’s heading, and I believe the business, product and passion we have can take us further," he said.
"We are looking to expand on our existing business, we want to bring the wedding reception centre back to life and because more people want to experience Paronella Park during the day and night, we want to expand on our current six-cabin accommodation."
Cairns’ Dial A Doctor was also a finalist in the Queensland Government’s Regional Award and the HTC Start-Up Award.
