A 44-YEAR-OLD Palm Cove woman is recovering in Cairns Base Hospital after being seriously injured during an alleged home invasion in the early hours of this morning.

The woman was allegedly struck by "a number" of offenders before one person struck her with a "sharp object", causing a laceration to her abdomen.

A police officer was also allegedly assaulted during the arrest of a man in relation to the incident.

A 46-year-old woman, a 45-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl are assisting police with their inquiries.
