V8 Supercars championship leader Jamie Whincup chose the Far North to take a break during the month-long interval until the next races in Ipswich on August 3-5.

After another successful win in the Townsville event two weeks ago, Whincup and partner Courtney Nicholson took some time off to recharge their batteries at the Daintree Eco Lodge and Spa.

They spent three nights at the award-winning spa enjoying the rainforest and nurturing their senses.

"I have had a really great season so far with five wins under my belt. However, racing is hard work, both physically and mentally, and I need to be at the top of my game at all times," he said.

"Courtney has always wanted to stay at the Daintree Eco Lodge and Spa and now that we were so close we could not miss out on the opportunity.

"Most of our friends go overseas. However, we did not want to travel too far after this exhausting season.

"We are so pleased with our choice to come here as we feel so recharged.

"It's hard to believe it's in the middle of winter.

"We had all our doors and windows open and slept so well listening to the waterfall sounds in the background.

"We have had an amazing time with some real tropical experiences and the wellness spa treatment was exceptional. A great way to reboost your senses."

Whincup said they would do the Aboriginal walk when they came back because they did not have time this time around.
