ADVERTISING agencies RCM Advertising and Happy Days Media have joined forces in a new business partnership worth $3.5 million a year.

Director Rob Cameron said the merger was "set to revolutionise Cairns media industry and boost the city’s economy".

"This partnership allows these winning businesses to grow, strengthen and combine their resources and expertise for the benefit of their most treasured asset, their valued clients," he said.

"This is a positive move for both businesses as it provides an increase in resources that we can supply to our clients, allowing us to help our existing and future clients grow to the next level.

"One thing's for sure, this partnership makes us a major media force in regional Queensland."

Mr Cameron said the two agencies would continue to maintain their separate identities.

The three directors are Mr Cameron, Mark Wollin and Steve "Skullsy" Corradi of Happy Days.

Alan Henwood has been appointed general manager.

Mr Cameron said their combined billings (RCM’s $2 million and the $1.5 million of Happy Days) totalled $3.5 million.

He said their combined experience was more than 60 years.

Mr Cameron said he had 30 years in the industry with the other three of about 10-12 years each.

RCM Advertising was established 16 years ago and became an accredited agency in 2000. Happy Days was set up four years ago.

"We have identified our strengths and weaknesses and the combined entities bring a fairly strong presence and media buying power in the region," Mr Cameron said.

He said they had about 50 "active" clients and 100 in total.

Mr Wollin said the partnership demonstrated their faith in the Cairns market.

"You either adapt or die when market conditions are tough. I believe we have created a winning formula for our clients," Mr Wollin said.

"Apart from heralding a positive injection of funds into the Cairns economy, our vision of creating
local jobs for passionate media professionals can now be expanded and realised," he said.

"When the dust settles and we are out there in the market, we will provide our existing and future
clients with real benefits in terms of resources and ideas.

"Couple that with our experience and fervour for our industry and it is exciting times ahead."

The clients include Paronella Park, Arnel Fencing, My Style Homes, Autobarn, Cairns Penny Savings and Loans, the Piccone IGA supermarket, Liquid Tiles, Freedom Furniture, Brothers Leagues Club and Blue Sky Brewery.
