James Cook University’s Boat House comes alive this Saturday, as Regroup Gathering returns for another year.
Regroup is a chance for people of all ages and walks of life to join in an event that is part festival, part education, but all fun.

This year’s musical line-up is as diverse as it is large, with a huge selection of DJs and electronic music producers, including Alexis K/Unsub, Beatrix, Dusty Fugus, Psymon, Ajita Audio, No Qualms crew, Taesty Gecko, Uzi, Soljah, Zebb, Mystic Costa (pictured), The Bush Pastor, Nick Bradley, Audio Spazm, Stomp N Stumble and Twenty Part Four, alongside live musicians Liv Grace, The Woodburn Project, Beatrootz, Velvet 11 and Ray-Lee.

There are also a big crop of visual and performance artists on board, including Adam Scott Miller, Donna Raymond, Jenny Varley, Jilli Manning, Mad Betty, Susanna Isabella, Phosphorus, TimZBuhdda and Suma, Bushcraft Productions, Peter Fremanis and more.

An event for the whole family, Regroup also has a kid’s space hosted by The Face Painters, live graffiti and street art demos, a community building forum, JCU aquarium tour and other assorted interactive activities.

Regroup Gathering’s co-ordinator Adam Walker from Compound Evolution says it’s a community event that offers something for people from all persuasions, whether they love music, arts or just want to be part of a fun social event.

“There will be a variety of musical offerings, from folk, experimental, percussion and most genres of electronica,” he says.
“Expect incredible visionary art, presentations from community members and university researchers. Food will be available and the bar will be flowing. We’ve also got a fully supervised kids’ space running until 6pm.”

>> Regroup Gathering is at James Cook University’s Boathouse on Saturday, July 29, from noon-midnight. Entry is $5 before 5pm, $10 for families, or $20 after 5pm. All ages, but ID required to drink at the bar.
