Indie folk artist Ray-Lee Russell is part of the line-up playing at The Palace tea lounge near the Lagoon during next month’s festival.
The 16-year-old singer-songwriter recently returned from Hollywood Championships of Performing Arts in the US where she took two silver and two bronze awards.
Juggling high school and music gigs, the self-taught guitarist said she was looking forward to playing at the festival.
"To me it’s about getting more experience and working with different musicians," she said.
Fellow Cairns musician Chris Ah Gee will become a regular at the festival with plans to play on the opening night and the jamming sessions at The Palace.
Cairns Festival is August 17 to September 2. For more on The Village sessions, ph: 4044 3594.
