Dancers put best foot forward for finals of Gilligan's competition
THE Far North's best street and urban dancers will try to pop, spin and twist their way to glory on Friday at Gilligan's, in an attempt to take out a $500 cash prize and a paid job on the nightclub%u2019s all-new resident dance crew.
The Get Up! dance competition started on July 13 and seeks to find three local dancers to strut their stuff every Friday at Gilligan’s, alongside two of the region’s most celebrated dancers, John Edwards and Jaymen Drahm.
Gilligan’s marketing manager Rhiannon Johnson said that after Friday’s final, the club would have "five very talented individuals" to form its first professional dance crew.
"We’re looking to bring something a bit different to Cairns’ nightlife," Ms Johnson said.
"We’re looking for something a bit edgy, that people will want to come and see on a Friday night."
The Get Up! dance competition final is at Gilligan’s on Friday from 10pm. Entry is free before 10pm, $10 after.
