Get Up! dance competition final at Gilligan's this Friday night
After three big weeks of heats, the first annual Get Up! competition comes to a head this weekend, with the region's best strutting their stuff on stage for a $500 cash prize and the chance to land a paid job as part of Gilligan's all new dance crew.
Competition has been fierce over the past three heats, with nine of Cairns’ best earning the right to perform at the final this Friday, including William Tim, Frankie Berman, Technique Green, Rhanee Johnson, David Pearce, Kili Aqorau, Saskia Turner (Bodies in Motion Dance Crew), Jillibalu Riley and Lanii Tikitau.
Gilligan’s marketing manager Rhiannon Johnson says she and the rest of the team at the club want to bring something that people currently aren’t seeing in local venues.
“We’re looking for something a bit different and edgy, we want to bring something different to the nightclub scene,” she says.
“If you look around, there isn’t really any resident dance crews in the clubs, so we want to create something that people come to watch every Friday night.
“John Edwards and Jaymen Drahm are already part of our team and will be judging the winners of the competition.”
Don’t miss your chance to head down and support the Far North’s finest and most stylish dancers in their quest for a real paying job in the entertainment industry tomorrow night.
Check out the final of gilligan’s Get Up! dance competition is Friday from 10pm. Entry is free before 10pm, $10 entry after.
