Ruby Rose, Seany B and more at Luminescence White Party at Gilligan's and The Attic
Gilligan's launches all-new event Luminescence this Saturday, featuring the one and only Ruby Rose and a white dress and decor theme.
The concept of a white party is popular with clubs across the globe, not only giving punters a chance to dress up in a theme, but also creating a moving canvas for lasers and video projections.
This Saturday night, Gilligan’s and The Attic launch their take on the white party, with all-new annual event Luminescence set to take over for a huge night of tunes and fun.
Heading up the billing for the inaugural event is none other than celebrity VJ, fashion icon and DJ Ruby Rose.
Ruby Rose Langenheim landed her first gig in the public eye in 2007 as a VJ for MTV; a role that not only graced her with an ASTRA award for Favourite Female in less than 12 months, but also the backing of an entire generation of young adults desperate for a role model who didn’t fit the mould, and definitely didn’t want to.
Appearing as a panellist on the Network Ten’s The Project, guest judge and co-host of the Australia’s Next Top Model finale, before being given her own shows Ultimate School Musical and MTV STYLE, the former door girl is never one to play by the rules, or even really know them to begin with. Don’t be alarmed though – it’s all just part of her charm.
Outside of television and fashion, Ruby’s talents extend to DJing, where she plays at the hottest clubs, parties and festivals around the world. She’s taken her signature mixes to renowned LA club XIV, put it on wax with a compilation album with Grant Smillie that debuted at No.10 on the ARIA charts. She also hosts the top rating radio show Party People and is currently working on her first solo album.
Bringing her skills on the wheels of steel this Saturday night, expect the freshest sounds from around the world from one of Australia’s hottest celebrity DJs.
Joining her in the headline spot in the main room at Gilligan’s is vocalist Seany B in solo mode. Most famous for providing the vocals on five of TV Rock’s big hits, including the contagious hit Flaunt it, Seany B is also the frontman to live electro outfit Dirty Laundry.
Launching his solo career with hot single B Good 2 Me, the former Cleo Bachelor of the Year contender is primed and ready to introduce Cairns to his new and distinct brand of hip-hop and funk-influenced dance music.
Meanwhile, up in The Attic, two hot, new acts will keep the crowd moving until the wee hours.
Canberra’s Peking Duk is the hottest thing to emerge from our nation’s capital since The Aston Shuffle, while 21-year-old Sydney Young J-Trick will no doubt impress with his wicked mix of big room and electro sounds.
Add to this huge local support from Double Trouble DJs, JRoll, Hobberz and the premiere of all-new, all‑girl local act Pandora’s Heat featuring DJ Sammy J, vocalist Amy Chase and violinist Natasha Ratz, and Luminescence has all the makings of a huge night.
Gilligan’s entertainment manager Zac Ross says after the success of the annual Sinners Ball and G-Rated Festivals, it was time to launch a new yearly spectacular.
“If you loved those nights then join us for our next instalment,” he says.
“Drawing inspiration from worldwide parties such as the massive Sensation White, the G Team decided it’s time to reinvent the Cairns White Party.”
Party at Luminescence at Gilligan’s and The Attic on Saturday from 8pm. Tickets are $25 presale from Adventure Travel at Gilligan’s, or $35 on the door. More information is at thegspotcairns.com/luminescence
