Malamute husky entered for Pet Pageant
DESPITE being bossed around by the family cat, malamute husky Kernow truly lives a dog's life at Trinity Park with his owners Caroline and Carl Barnes, swimming at the beach every day and even gardening occasionally.
Mrs Barnes said she decided to enter the picture of two-year-old Kernow in The Cairns Post’s Pet Pageant competition because she loves the way he looks at the camera.
"He would definitely spend the Pet Cafe vouchers well, too," she said.

Far Northern heat and humidity doesn’t affect Kernow, who never gets his winter coat because it doesn’t get cold enough in Cairns.
"He is fluffy, but they adapt to extreme heat or extreme cold like sheep," Mrs Barnes said.
Seasoned malamute husky owners, Mrs Barnes said she and her husband continued to buy dogs like Kernow because of their loveable temperaments.
"I’ve had them before and they don’t bark, which is very handy when you’re at work," she said.
The Cairns Post thanks major sponsor Pet Cafe for its support of Pet Pageant. Entries close on September 21. Jump online to cairns.com.au/competitions and upload your picture. Categories include Cutest Pet, Funniest Pet and Best Dressed Pet, with winners taking home $1500 worth of vouchers each.
