Chillemi grabs a bundle to dazzle rivals
IF Tolga trainer Roy Chillemi is ever searching for success he knows he has to travel to Townsville.
The reigning Townsville Trainers Premiership champ winner of eight of the past nine premierships picked up his first two-year-old win of the season at Cluden Park yesterday, then bagged two more firsts for good measure.
The first came through two-year-old Dazzle On, who took advantage of the fact form horses He's A Ladies' Man and Erebus being out of action to claim a narrow win over Peter Fleming's bolter Rapid Crystal.
"He's a very green horse, the jockey was telling me,'' Chillemi said post-race. "He may not do as well as a two-year-old but he will be a very good three-year-old, I think.''
His second win was far more comfortable.
Pre-race favourite Miss Magic Chine rewarded punters in the Class 1 race, storming home two lengths ahead of Rock Like Crazy and Alsouq.
Five-year-old galloper Just Hustled made it back-to-back wins in Townsville, picking up his third win in four starts in the final race of the day.
A length was all that separated Pink 'N' Blue from adding a fourth win to Chillemi's haul, the four-year-old gelding coming second to Stuart Kendrick's Renounce.
