A GLOSSY brochure extolling the investment opportunities in the Far North has been produced in time for the first direct flights from China today.

The Partnership Prospectus Trade and Investment Engagement Guide was fast tracked by Advance Cairns with the help of various businesses.

Advance Cairns chief executive officer Stewart Christie said it was delivered ahead of schedule and before the first China Eastern services.

"The prospectus will be provided to the airline's senior executives to broaden their understanding of the region and what it has to offer," he said.

"It has been a big challenge to develop a document, that would usually take three to four months, in less than three weeks and for it to also be translated into simplified Chinese.

"We envisage that this document is the first version of the prospectus which will be further developed and supplemented in the coming months as we better understand the Chinese market and their needs and obtain further industry feedback.

"We are also looking at the potential of broadening or supplementing the geographic industry focus to include Townsville and Mackay, particularly because of their focus on the resources and heavy engineering sectors.."

Mr Christie said the prospectus was the first stage, "a stand-alone introduction to the high-level opportunities that might be considered by a Chinese investor with further collateral to be created at a later stage".

He said the prospectus focused on the region's points of difference within 10 core industries of agri-production, aviation, education and training, engineering and manufacturing, conventions and incentives, creative industries, marine, renewable energy, resources and mining and tourism.
