THE new $2 million home of Mercedes-Benz in Cairns is triple its original size.

The state-of-the-art building is to be opened by Mercedes-Benz Australia managing director Horst von Sanden next week.

Trinity Mercedes-Benz general manager Richard Jaska said the finishing touches were being made to the McLeod St premises.

"It's triple in size and it's up to Mercedes-Benz international standards," Mr Jaska said.

The showroom will be able to display six vehicles while outside, the yard will accommodate 30 cars, wagons, SUVs, and light commercial vehicles.

Mr Jaska said the dealership was pleased to see the completion after a drawn-out process over two years.

"We've had two builders come and go and cyclone Yasi put us back," he said.

Mr Jaska said it was a "substantial" investment by Trinity to provide a suitable and worthy home for the iconic German brand.

"Inquiry in the last three weeks since the showroom opened has been double," he said. "We'd love to sell around 25 per cent more Mercedes-Benzes over the next 18 months."

He said the new building had made a "huge difference."

The opening features three high performance AMG models, a CLK55, a C63 coupe and a ML63 SUV as well as a CLS350 four door coupe.

Up to 200 people have been invited to the function on November 30.

Mr von Sanden said the new Trinity Mercedes-Benz premises were the latest and most up-to-date in Australia.

"We were actively involved in the design of the showroom and are very proud of the finished product. It features the latest in our corporate design and standards.

"I am looking forward to opening the state-of-the-art showroom next week and meeting many of our Far Northern customers."

The new showroom finishes a busy year for the auto group.

The Opel brand is to fill the space vacated by Mercedes-Benz, Skoda shifted into the Kawasaki space which moved into the former Active women's gym, all in McLeod St.

The group has the largest number of franchises in Cairns, across two properties.

The McLeod St property is also home to Ford, Land Rover, Honda, Kia, Peugeot and used cars. Trinity Southside on Mulgrave Rd, Earlville, sells Hyundai, Subaru, Suzuki, Isuzu Ute, Chery and also used cars.
