Magro, Dodge have right formula for Cairns karting
MAREEBA Formula 3 driver John Magro will make a rare appearance on the Cairns kart track this afternoon.
Magro will team up with speedway champion Lyndon Dodge in the year-ending 100 Lapper at Cairns International Speedway in Edmonton.
Magro has a background in karts but recently moved into Formula 3, which is best known as a stepping stone into Formula 1.
This year he finished sixth in the national rankings and won the City of Darwin Cup in June.
He joins good company in Dodge, who won the this year's Cairns Kart Club championship in the sportsman light series.
The 100 lapper will be an endurance test for many of the racers. Regular fixtures average at around 20 laps.
"It's seen as a bit of an honour to win this," said Dodge, who has won it two years in a row.
The pair should enter favourites in their class.
Racing will start today at 1.30pm.
