Kowanyama man faces court over death
BREAKING NEWS: A court has heard a Kowanyama man stabbed a woman 13 times with a pair of scissors before leaving her to die in a Cairns laneway just over two years ago.
Sebastian Gilbert, 30, is charged with murdering Kowanyama woman Delphine Michael on November 27, 2010.
He has pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the opening day of the trial in the Cairns Supreme Court today, but not to murder.
The court was told Mr Gilbert said in an interview with police that he “whacked” Ms Michael with scissors after she had insulted him.
