Local metalheads join together for tribute to Pantera's Dimebag Darrell
A group of local metal fans are joining forces on Saturday night at The Railway Hotel to pay tribute to the late, great Darrell Lance Abbott, better known as Dimebag Darrell from Pantera.
Making exactly eight years since Abbott's death at the hands of a shooter at their show at Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, the night will pay homage to one of groove metal's true driving forces and an inspiration to metal lovers worldwide.
To celebrate Dimebag's life, a group of local Pantera fans and popular musicians from local bands have formed a group called Black Tooth, which will be rocking some of Pantera's greatest hits this weekend in Cairns.
If features Lofty (from Smashed) on drums, Sam Sciacca and Shane Tang (guitar and bass repectively from Jeztah), Robbie Caeser (from many local bands on guitar) and Pete Lynch (Snatch) on vocals, with a few other surprise guests on the night.
With Black Tooth joined by local metal heroes Almost A Square and Salacious, alongside a big competition to win a Dimebag Bolt Guitar worth $800 and a swag of Pantera CDs, this is one night any discerning metal fan won't want to miss.
Pantera Tribute Night is at The Railway Hotel on Saturday night, from 6pm. Entry is free.
