A MAN who had to be pulled off an international flight en route to Japan last night due to his allegedly threatening and violent behaviour has been granted bail in a Cairns court this afternoon.
Western Australian man Justin Richard Cooke, 34, allegedly caused chaos on a Qantas flight between Sydney and Tokyo, forcing the pilot to divert to Cairns to offload him.
He was met by Australian Federal Police at the terminal and appeared in court this afternoon charged with one count each of igniting a cigarette in an aircraft toilet, behaving in an offensive or disorderly manner, assaulting a member of crew and doing an act to threaten the safety of person on board an aircraft.
He has been bailed to live with his mother in WA and the case will be mentioned again in Cairns on January 31.
