Cairns siblings to launch Cardio Tennis at Aust Open
SIBLINGS Kryssi Marriott and Chris O'Hare have always dreamt of playing on centre court at the Australian Open and despite neither of them holding a world ranking or joining the professional tour, that dream will be a reality in Melbourne next month.
The Cairns-based fitness duo, better known for their gruelling personal training and boot camp sessions, will swap the kettlebells for racquets as part of a demonstration of Cardio Tennis during the Grand Slam event.
"I've been going to the Australian Open as long as I can remember and obviously I won't ever be able to play tennis there so it's great we get to do it for this," Ms Marriott said.
The pair are both qualified tennis and fitness coaches, making them ideal to bring the sport to the Far North. The sport involves basic tennis shots with various cardio drills around the court, set to music tracks.
Ms Marriott is certain it will be well received in Cairns when they launch it in the New Year.
"We're going to launch it in Cairns in January after the Australian Open," she said.
"I really think it's got so much potential here and we've got such a great tennis facility here.
"You don't need to be able to play tennis to do it so it's great for everyone."
Ms Marriott and Mr O'Hare will make their centre court appearances on the first Monday and Tuesday of the tournament, which begins in Melbourne on January 14.
